Maybe. I think Nvidia being so overbought, algorithms were looking for any reason at all to sell the stock. It’s very possible that today’s news exacerbated the selling a bit.
The other item being drummed up is ASML’s much lower than anticipated forecast going into next year
Yeah that’s the headline news. And that impact will be short-term in nature.
Nvidia’s actual trading activity will indicate how the market takes it.
Hi Sam, what do you think about ASML fundamentals, do you think it is a good buying opportunity now after a significant price drop?
@ Laslo — regarding ASML, I haven’t run a fundamental analysis on the company and don’t know enough about it to determine whether the post-earnings sell-off would present a good buying opportunity. I can say that earnings sell-offs aren’t usually just 1 day events. It’s not uncommon to see a stock drop for several days after the report and then head higher.
So even if we were interested in buying it, we’d have to wait a for the bleeding to stop first.
That being said, the stock is down 40% from its highs and this earnings issue could be a capitulation event. I can say that with it being down 40% it has peaked my interest quite a bit. Didn’t realize it was down that much overall.. I did a very quick/cursory look at the company and the set-up is interesting to me. I’m going to investigate it further. there could be something there.
