Really good ideas. Both. Especially the second suggestion. Didn’t even think about that and I think there’s a way to do it. I’ll look into that. It might come sooner than you think.
– a way to configure on which portfolio I want to receive trading alerts (instead of all).
We started to work on both of these suggestions yesterday. I spent several hours Dark mode. Unfortunately that ended up being far more complicated than I originally imaged it would. Not even due to coding at all. The coding is straight forward. We just have some significant limitations with the app developer platform we used.
Those limitations make it tricky to develop it on the platform.

The push notification system is actually a lot more complex project from a development point of view, but we have a lot more control and visibility on how to develop it.
Hello Alvint! Welcome aboard. Let me see if I can answer your questions:
would it be possible to show current status/holdings of each portfolio?
YES! Each Portfolio has its own dedicated page. That page shows a live updating table of our current positions. Each Long-Term Portfolio stared with $100k. Baratheon stared with $10k and Targaryen started with $5k. Each portfolio shows its most current up to date performance including the performance of each positions we’re holding. See here or click on the portfolio’s tab in the mobile app:
If I’m misunderstanding you, please ask follow up questions.
EDIT: Each trade has a portfolio name attached to it. So when we make a trade, it’s for a very specific portfolio. The holdings and performance are posted on each of the individual portfolio pages. So when you click on the “Trades” page, it references the portfolio in each trades. Also, each portfolio pages has every trade listed. Though sometimes we’re behind on updating that. We update that like once a week. The portfolio table and trade page are immediately updated when the trade is made however. So that is always live and up to date.
Happy to help. It might also be helpful to take a look at the orientation page. I think the Orientation page does a good job giving a broad overview. We haven’t fully built out the Dashboard yet. It’s about 80% done. But the orientation is ready to go. We recently added it this past month because the content on the site can get overwhelming:
Hi Terry. I’d try force restarting the app. If that doesn’t work, try reinstalling it. If you can’t get it going then, send a message to [email protected]
Are we going to get push notifications for when you reply to our comments as well?
Minor UX suggestion: Making the expander elements in the hamburger menu have indentation will make it easier to visually associate sub-items items with their parent item.
Minor UX suggestion: Make the text box when leaving a comment expand in height so it’s easier to review what you’ve written earlier in the comment.
Push Notifications
Right now, we only have 1 category of push notifications. We’ll be sending those out specifically for trades.
In the future, we’ll be setting up different categories of push notifications that users can select received. So it’s more focused.
But that will mostly tie in with trade notifications for particular portfolios. I have to look into the system to see how easy it will be too witch from one type of notification to the other. But that’s a feature we might implement fairly soon.
So for example, those following only Targaryen Portfolio, would only receive those push notifications.
hamburger menu have indentation
We might be able to fix that fairly quickly. I’ll add that to our list of things.
Comment System Modifications
This is the most complicated of issues to address. I’m not super thrilled about the comment system and do think it’s usable in a pinch. But not the best way to post comments obviously.
That could take time to fix and requires a lot of customization. What we’d like to do longer-term is to get discuz commenting system working on the mobile platform.
Longer term suggestion: Deep Linking. This will allow us to stay in the mobile app without switching over to the mobile browser when clicking on links.
Deep linking v. iFrame
At the moment, we have to do each link by hand. So we’re doing that for the major pages but using iframe for the more minor links. We don’t have fully developed pages for each page on the site. it would take forever to get that done under the current development system.
Minor UX suggestion: Make the last selected model portfolio automatically selected as the default when switching over to the Portfolios tab. I wager most people will have certain pprtfolios they check often so it would be nice if they were automatically selected for us.
Potential UX suggestion: In WordPress you’re allowed to up vote a comment to indicate you like the comment. This allows us (the subscribers) to indicate a loose sense of importance for specific comments (e.g. 3 up votes about a TSLA comment might mean many people are interested in hearing your thoughts about TSLA). Would be nice if that was replicated on the mobile app as well ???? not urgent, just figured I mention it!

hi sam,Can you support the text copying function? When using the web version, sometimes I need to use translation, but the app doesn’t even allow text copying. It would be great if I could copy text
Sending out my first comment using the app. Looks clean Sam!
Very, very nice.
In the suggestion box :
– a dark mode
– a way to configure on which portfolio I want to receive trading alerts (instead of all).

Thanks for the suggestion. it’ll be added soon.
You’re doing great. Don’t worry about the Dark Mode, it is not something that’s mission critical for this app.
Thank you Sam! As part of this trades page (or another), would it be possible to show current status/holdings of each portfolio?
For new subs that were not around at the genesis of each portfolio, this would be helpful to track trades, look at patterns, etc. thanks!

This is perfect Sam, thank you. I must have missed it. Apologies!

wow!
For some reason, after I downloaded the app,I got a blank page with “Sam Weiss” on it; I’m on iPhone 14 pro, would appreciate any help, thx
Hi Terry. I’d try force restarting the app. If that doesn’t work, try reinstalling it. If you can’t get it going then, send a message to [email protected]
Thanks, Sam. It’s working fine now, love the clean look of the app, very cool????
great app Sam! any chance of a dark mode?
That’s the second request for dark mode. I’ll look into how we can implement that under the current system.
Looking good Sam! Excited to follow you into this year as well. Looking at those older portfolios really made me wish I could have joined earlier!

Assuming that’s the longer term intention of the mobile app that is! Some times certain user flows / features aren’t very user friendly on mobile.

That’s a good idea. I’ll see if we can add that and/or add a saved preference. That way they can open to that portfolio every time.

Let me add that to our list of things to work on. That could be an easy fix. Let me find out.
